Program Highlights
Over the four-day convergence in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, youth leaders will have the opportunity to learn from respected voices in the UN system, national and local government, civil society, and academia; witness real SDG solutions in action; and transform bold ideas into ready-to-launch projects.
If you’re ready to move beyond advocacy and create real impact, this is your chance to join a network of changemakers and help build a more sustainable Philippines—one where no one is left behind.
Day 1 — Set the Agenda
The first day kicks off with the opening ceremonies and messages of solidarity. Plenary sessions set the stage by mapping where we stand on the SDGs and exploring how to localize action in the Philippines. The day continues with thematic discussions, and small-group sessions to turn insights into concrete next steps.

Day 2 — See the SDGs in Action
Experience Palawan as a living classroom: take part in forest restoration in Cabayugan, explore renewable energy solutions at the Sabang Solar Farm, and witness conservation efforts at the Underground River. Breakout immersions include mangrove preservation, sustainable tourism at Hundred Caves, and restorative justice at Iwahig—capped off with the community-led Firefly Tour.
Day 3 — From Ideas to Action
Dive into themed breakout sessions built around the 5Ps of the SDGs—People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace, and Partnership—to co-create solutions and draft a localized Youth Agenda for sustainable development. In the evening, come together for the Cultural & Solidarity Night, featuring performances that celebrate diversity and the Ten Outstanding SDG Awards.

Day 4 — Commit & Launch
Conclude the convergence with a plenary to present the Youth Agenda for the SDGs, followed by commitments from partners in government, civil society, and the UN system. Closing ceremonies will highlight collective pledges, next steps, and a shared vision for advancing the SDGs in the Philippines and beyond.

Iwahig Firefly Tour
Set along the Iwahig River in Puerto Princesa, the Firefly Watching Tour offers a magical yet educational encounter with nature. Guided by local boatmen, participants experience the spectacle of fireflies illuminating the mangrove trees, a sign of a thriving ecosystem. Beyond its beauty, the tour emphasizes the importance of mangrove conservation, biodiversity protection, and sustainable eco-tourism as a livelihood source for the community.

Baker’s Hill
What started as a small family bakeshop in Puerto Princesa has grown into one of Palawan’s most beloved community attractions.
Baker’s Hill is more than just a stop for hopia, pastries, and local delicacies — it has become a vibrant example of how local entrepreneurship, tourism, and culture can blend to create sustainable livelihoods.
The immersion at Baker’s Hill connects with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and others.
By supporting local farmers and producers, the establishment demonstrates how small enterprises can generate jobs while promoting pride in local heritage.
Beyond food, the landscaped gardens, art installations, and family-friendly spaces also highlight the role of tourism in fostering community identity and inclusivity. By experiencing Baker’s Hill, participants will see how creative, community-driven enterprises can strengthen local economies while contributing to a culture of sustainability and shared prosperity.

Hundred Caves
The Hundred Caves is a community-managed eco-tourism site that showcases Palawan’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. Its intricate limestone formations and chambers are explored through guided tours led by local residents, who not only share the cave’s wonders but also emphasize conservation, education, and cultural storytelling. The site is a living example of how community stewardship can both protect the environment and provide sustainable livelihoods.
The immersion at Hundred Caves connects to a wide range of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Through this community-led initiative, participants will witness how eco-tourism can create livelihoods, foster environmental education, and promote sustainable development.

Sabang Mangrove Forest
The Mangrove Forest Tour along the Sabang River offers participants an immersive experience in one of Puerto Princesa’s vital coastal ecosystems. Guided by community members, the tour highlights the ecological importance of mangroves in protecting shorelines, nurturing marine life, and mitigating the effects of climate change. It also showcases how eco-tourism initiatives provide sustainable livelihoods while fostering environmental awareness.

Iwahig Penal Facility
The Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, often called the “Prison Without Walls,” is one of the most unique correctional facilities in the Philippines. Instead of traditional confinement, it integrates inmates into farming, fishing, and crafts-making activities, fostering rehabilitation through productive work and community living. This century-old institution also serves as a symbol of restorative justice, where dignity, discipline, and livelihood opportunities go hand in hand.

Puerto Princesa Underground River
A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, the Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) stands as a global model of conservation and sustainable tourism. Its breathtaking limestone karst formations, diverse wildlife, and pristine ecosystem demonstrate how natural heritage can be protected while also creating livelihood opportunities for surrounding communities.
The immersion experience at PPUR highlights several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By seeing firsthand how conservation, community participation, and multi-sector collaboration come together, participants gain insights into balancing ecological protection with economic growth — lessons they can adapt and apply in their own localities.

Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center
Home to the world’s largest living crocodiles and countless other endangered species, the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center (formerly the Crocodile Farm) stands as a vital hub for biodiversity protection and environmental education.
The center plays a key role in safeguarding Palawan’s unique wildlife — from the Philippine freshwater crocodile and saltwater crocodile to endemic birds and mammals — while promoting responsible tourism and research.
The immersion experience at PWRCC connects strongly with SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), and SDG 15 (Life on Land). By engaging with conservation experts and witnessing rehabilitation programs, participants will see how science, policy, and community action converge to protect threatened species.
Beyond preservation, the center also emphasizes SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by providing sustainable livelihoods for local staff and guides, while strengthening SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaborations with government, NGOs, and international conservation groups.
This visit offers youth leaders practical insights into how biodiversity conservation not only safeguards ecosystems but also uplifts communities and secures a sustainable future for generations to come.

Sabang Solar Farm
The Sabang Renewable Energy Corporation (SREC) Solar Farm is the first hybrid power plant of its kind in the Philippines, combining solar, battery storage, and diesel backup to deliver reliable and sustainable energy to the community of Sabang. This pioneering project demonstrates how clean energy solutions can address the challenges of off-grid areas, providing consistent electricity for households, schools, and local enterprises while reducing carbon emissions.

Gintong Butil AgriFarm
Gintong Butil AgriFarm showcases how sustainable agriculture can empower communities, protect the environment, and ensure food security. As a learning site for organic and climate-smart farming practices, the farm integrates traditional knowledge with modern innovations to demonstrate how agriculture can be both productive and environmentally responsible.
The immersion highlights SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Life on Land). Participants will witness firsthand how local farmers use sustainable methods to increase yields without degrading the soil, reduce reliance on chemical inputs, and build resilience to climate change.
Beyond crops, Gintong Butil fosters community empowerment by providing skills training and livelihood opportunities, aligning with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By bridging sustainability and enterprise, the farm becomes a living model of how agriculture can drive both ecological stewardship and inclusive growth.
Through this experience, youth leaders gain insights into how food systems can be transformed into engines of resilience, equity, and sustainability — lessons they can bring back to their own local contexts.
